Singer Duffy has released her first track in five years, after taking a break from the spotlight, following her rape and kidnap ordeal.
Duffy kept the harrowing four-week rape and kidnap ordeal secret for years before opening up about the heartbreaking experience a few months ago.
The 35-year-old singer announced the release of emotional ballad River in the Sky on her Instagram page today to her 197,000 followers.
Duffy shared a retro-feel black-and-white photograph of herself in addition to audio of the new track.
Promoting the song, the Mercy hitmaker penned: “For the better days to come.”
The song, which is only available across Duffy’s social media channels features emotive lyrics, as she bares her soul in the moving ballad.
She sings: “As I walk this life, doubt on my mind, I pray to fly, burden free.”
River In The Sky was met with huge praise from her fans, who thanked her for the beautiful song.
Taking to the comments section, one Instagram user gushed: “Thank you for this beautiful song Duffy.”
While another continued: “Goosebumps listening to your voice. So incredibly beautiful.”
A third added: “Oh my goodness. I just stopped what I was doing and just listened …. so so beautiful thank you.”
Duffy first shared new music by sending radio veteran Jo While an “only for radio” track, called Something Beautiful, back in March.
Duffy broke her ten-year silence earlier this year to reveal her harrowing kidnap and ordeal.
Weeks after sharing the heartbreaking revelation, Duffy shared a 3,500 word essay about her ordeal, which she said “liberated” her.
