Lord Sugar has left fans of Channel 5 series The Jeremy Vine Show divided after joking about coronavirus during a live TV appearance.
Speaking via video link from his plush home in Florida, The Apprentice legend explained why he thinks it’s time Boris Johnson ends the UK-wide lockdown.
Chatting on Thursday morning, Lord Sugar said: “Look I’m not a doctor and I don’t want to be giving medical advice and all that stuff.
“The only thing I can say is that I have been here in Florida for six months now.
“I have lived through the crisis – the shortage of ventilators, no masks available and no body-wear available.
“I’ve now seen the transition to restaurants reopening, tennis courts opening, golf clubs opening, shops have been open all the time quite honestly.”
Not stopping there, the multimillionaire continued: “This has been going on now for six weeks so I just logically say, well hold on we have come out of this so called lockdown.
“Who is dead? I’m not, my wife thank god still alive… so is everyone else that I know.
“Maybe we have reached the peak.

“Maybe it is time to follow the example of America, France or Spain.
“I think Prime Minister joining is being a little too cautious if you ask me – just slightly.”
It didn’t take long for Twitter to be flooded with messages from angry viewers who accused him of being “disrespectful” to the NHS.
One viewer hit out: “Ridiculous. Shame on him and all he says its in very bad taste, and totally disrespectful to all those that have died of covid, and all those that caught it, and especially disrespectful and very insulting to all those in NHS. He’s a rich man that doesn’t live in the real world.”
Another added: “Because my family and I haven’t died that shows we don’t have a problem…..
“I’ve seen people die – and there is a problem. What an ignorant thing to have said.”
“Hmmm. You’re not dead, your wife is not dead. This is interesting logic. I’m not dead, my husband’s not dead. But you know who is?
“One of my friends. Another friend’s dad. My son’s friend. And hundreds of thousands of other people I don’t know. So LORD Alan, just shut up,” a third raged.
