Mick Hucknall says he has been the victim of prejudice in the music industry over the colour of his hair.
The Simply Red frontman, 60, has faced nasty taunts about his red locks throughout his career.
And he suggested it is similar to racism.
Mick, inset, said: “I know people with red hair aren’t a different race per se. But we look different. So, in that sense, you could argue that is enough to have people pick on you.

“I think it’s important to keep a sense of humour. When it gets nasty is the only time I’d have a problem with it.
“It’s different when people are being mean and singling people out.” When he was starting out in music, record label executives moaned it would be hard to make him a star.
He added: “In 1985 they were saying I didn’t look like a conventional
pop star.”

Mick is thrilled fellow singer Ed Sheeran is challenging perceptions of what pop stars should look like.
He said: “When people see a redhead they think it doesn’t fit with the image there is supposed to be.
“It’s great to see people like Ed… fellow redheads achieving success.”
