Piers Morgan gets 'foul-mouthed' death threats after petition for GMB sacking

Piers Morgan has revealed he has been receiving death threats after a petition to get him sacked from Good Morning Britain went viral.

Fortunately for Piers, his fans created another petition to keep him on the ITV show which has seen him loudly challenge Government officials over the coronavirus pandemic.

As usual, viewers are torn over Piers’ presenting manner and it led one hater to create a petition to get him fired from the gig with Susanna Reid.

Having none of it, the 55-year-old took to his official Twitter account to tell his 7million followers about the “foul-mouthed” messages he has been receiving.

He tweeted: “Memo to trolls: the more you try to silence me with foul-mouthed abuse, death threats & petitions for me to be fired, the louder & harder I will challenge the Govt over its handling of this crisis.”

Piers finished the post with: “Lives depend on it.”

And Piers clearly wasn’t taking a bad word said about him after one troll commented: “Enjoy your big garden, sip the expensive wine and give us a day off.”

An angry Piers responded: “I’ll give you a lifetime off, relax. BLOCKED.”

Over the past week, the two petitions over Piers’ job on GMB have seen their numbers soar with thousands of divided fans signing one or the other.

Piers has seen himself in a number of public spats as he continues to critic the Government’s Covid-19 approach and has accused cabinet ministers of refusing to be interviewed by him.

The journalist said: “I think it’s shameful. I think it’s completely wrong.

“The reason Matt Hancock [Health Secretary] isn’t doing our show is because the Government sent out a procession of extremely poor junior ministers who couldn’t answer basic questions about this and we got annoyed with them.”

Mr Hancock instead appeared on Pier’s rival show, BBC Breakfast and was interviewed by Dan Walker.
