The Chase host Bradley Walsh looked concerned on tonight’s episode when one contestant refused to face the Chaser.
Third player Eleanor witnessed Mark Labbett knock out the first two players, and started fretting about taking her own turn.
When Mark looked to the third and fourth contestants for some more competition, Eleanor put her foot down.
She declared: “I’m not coming.”
Bradley looked shocked, as he turned to Mark with an expression of surprise plastered across his face.
Fourth contestant Deborah wrapped her arm around Eleanor, as Brad asked: “You looking forward to it?”
When Eleanor simply let out a worrying noise, Brad exclaimed: “That doesn’t sound too hopeful, cause she’s up after the break…”
Luckily, once the break came to an end, Eleanor had racked up the nerve to face legendary quiz buff Mark.
Hoping to earn enough money to go on a cruise with her partner, she managed to earn a tidy sum of £2,000 in the cash builder round.
Easing her fears, Mark let Eleanor know she was a better player than she suspected, as he said: “I think you got thrown there with the opening question.”
Passing the blame to the host, he said: “Like a lot of things around here I blame Brad for that.”
Fellow contestant Deborah urged Eleanor to accept the middle offer, and suggested Mark was a little frightened of their quiz skills.
She said: “I reckon he’s a little bit scared of us!”
Battling her nerves, Eleanor accepted the low offer, and managed to make it through to the final round with some money in-hand.
Congratulating her on a cracking performance, Mark said: “By taking a low offer you were under no pressure at all.”
While Brad added: “Great job darling. That was short and sweet!”
The Chase airs on weekdays at 5pm on ITV
