Adele and her ex-husband Simon Konecki have reportedly finalised their divorce nearly two whole years after they split.
According to US weekly the singer-songwriter, 32, and charity CEO, 46, are now “officially divorced” after the judge signed off on their settlement yesterday.
The proceedings were reportedly dragged out by the need to use mediators despite their breakup being amicable.
It is claimed that the couple “represented themselves” and submitted a “judgement package” last month, choosing to “determine rights to community property and debts through mediation”.
However, the pair are said to have wanted to avoid a nasty ‘Hollywood style’ divorce which would ‘drag on for years’, and Simon has his own money, worth around £2 million.
A source said: “They made it very clear they didn’t want to set lawyers on each other, but the process hasn’t been exactly straightforward all the same. The priority was making sure they did right by their son, Angelo.
“The first thing they agreed on was sharing custody, and since then it has been about dividing up the rest of their marital finances fairly.”
In May 2019 Adele bought a lavish £8.53 million home right next to Simon’s house in order to better co-parent Angelo.
Adele and Simon began dating in 2011 after reportedly being introduced by Ed Sheeran before having son Angelo the following year and marrying in secret in 2016.
The couple announced their separation in April 2019 and Adele filed court documents five months later.
Adele’s representative said: “Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment.”
A source told US weekly that the marriage had become increasingly platonic, stating: “Their relationship evolved and they became more like friends than lovers. They realised the romantic love was no longer there. They’re disappointed, but it just didn’t work out.”
A year after the split, Adele was granted a court request to keep the details of her divorce private.
The songstress has been famously private with her personal life, only confirming her marriage in 2017 at the Grammy’s in her Album of the Year speech, stating: “My manager, my husband and my son you’re the only reason I do it.”
Speaking to Matt Lauer on his NBC Today show in 2015 she gushed about Simon, saying: ‘Being in such an amazing relationship with someone that’s so there for me and so loyal and is really part of my core now, that’s what made me write about everything I’ve ever done, because I’ve got his love.’

But trouble between the couple was clearly brewing when two months before they announced their split, Simon turned up at the Brit Awards without Adele.
A source said: ‘The Brits were confirmation in a way. Everyone was hoping Adele would come but she stayed away. Things had already broken down for a while.
But for fans who have been waiting five years for another chart-topping breakup album from the singer will be disappointed.
It was recently claimed that Adele’s new album won’t be focused on her recent heartbreak or divorce.
A source told The Sun: “Heartbreak has helped Adele shift records over the years but this split is quite different.
“They’re both aware their son Angelo should be protected and that’s why Adele has agreed not to sing about their relationship.
“Her new album will have a different sound anyway, so it hasn’t bothered her too much that Simon quietly expected her to keep their relationship out of her music.”
Since her divorce Adele has been linked to British musician Skepta, 38, after it was reported that things were “heating up” between the pair in October 2020.
However, Adele shut down rumours of any relationships telling fans after her SNL performance that same month that she was “going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am!”
