Coronation Street spoilers have revealed a powerful storyline on hate crime will be the central focus of next week’s episodes, with soap bosses working in line with The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and Seb Franklin (Harry Visconti) will be rushed to hospital after a gang – led by Corey Brent (Maximus Evans) – leave them unconscious and battered by the canal.
The attack leaves bride Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) devastated, as she cancels her wedding to rush to her son’s side in the hospital.
Corey tries to cover his tracks by enlisting an unwitting Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) to lie on his behalf, leaving his accomplice Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) battling her conscience.
Elsewhere, teen Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has unknowingly put his mum’s life at risk, as Sharon Bentley (Tracie Bennett) gets her hands on the address of the hideout.
Below are the most unmissable Corrie spoilers of the week, putting the spotlight on hate crime.
Leanne in danger
Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) are relieved to have Simon back in the hideout, convinced they are safe now he has escaped Harvey’s clutches.
Against their knowledge, Harvey’s (Will Mellor) cronies gather outside the hospital and watch Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) show Carla Connor (Alison King) the address Simon stuck in his hand before he escaped.
Back at the house, Sharon pops by with some flowers for Peter but manages to snatch Carla’s phone when she isn’t looking.
In a flash, she looks up the address of the hideout, before slipping the phone back into the bag and hurrying away.
As soon as she leaves the house, Sharon calls up Harvey and lets him know where Leanne is hiding, urging him to head there as soon as possible.
Will Simon come clean about leaking the address before it’s too late?
Abi’s wedding goes pear-shaped
Desperate for their wedding to go without a hitch, Abi assures Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) everything will be fine, urging him to push his fall out with Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) to the back of his mind.
However, a disastrous day leaves her fearing her wedding is cursed, sending her into a panic.
In a turn of events, Tyrone eventually agrees to be Kevin’s best man, and Seb calls by with a sweet engagement gift, offering his mum a necklace as a beautiful token.
Abi is thrilled and heads off for her hen party with her mates, unaware she is going to hear some devastating news in a matter of hours.
Sadly, the night comes to a crashing end when she learns Seb and Nina have been attacked and hospitalised, their lives hanging in the balance.
Cancelling her wedding, Abi rushes to her son’s aid – will Seb survive the ordeal?
Brutal canal assault
Roy Cropper (David Neilson) overhears Seb joking about proposing to Nina, leaving him concerned they are rushing the relationship.
When Nina shares Roy’s concerns with Seb, he wonders whether he ought to move out to help ease the pace of their blossoming romance.
Utterly loved up, Seb and Nina head on a late-night walk by the canal, only to run into Corey and his mob of drunken mates.
The gang start to harass Seb and Nina, who try to hurry away, only to get chased down by the drunken thugs.
They are severely beaten up by the gang and are later rushed to hospital where a team of medics try desperately to save their lives.
Nina has suffered severe blows to the head, and when she wakes up, she can’t remember anything from the attack – aside from realising she saw Corey and his mates.
Seb undergoes a series of tests, leaving a stricken Abi pleading with doctors to help her son regain consciousness.
Will Nina and Set make a full recovery after falling victim to the sickening hate crime?
Corey spins a web of lies
The cracks in Corey and Asha’s relationship start to show when he turns down her offer of a movie night to spend the evening with Kelly and his mates.
Nina sees Corey and Kelly flirting unashamedly, and decides to come clean to Asha, worried he might be cheating on her.
Corey and his friend Eli pick up Kelly, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), and Asha in a car, later revealing the vehicle has been stolen.
They all get wasted together in the middle of nowhere, but when Asha learns the car is stolen and expresses her concerns, the gang turn on her, and she ups and leaves.
Later, the remaining group heads to the canal where the gang spot Nina and Seb enjoying a romantic moonlit stroll, and start harassing them.
Summer feels uncomfortable when she watches the thugs make fun of Nina for being a goth, and decides to head home.
Later in the night, Corey returns home to his flat, and when Asha arrives back from Amy’s place, he lies and insists he has been home for ages.
Abi confronts Corey in the middle of the street after learning Nina saw them on the night and accuses him of beating up her son, leaving Asha uneasy.
