Dancing on Ice's Matt Evers opens up about breakdown as he slams Downing Street 'party'

Dancing on Ice star Matt Evers has furiously hit out at the leaked video of Downing Street staff laughing about an alleged secret Christmas party last year.

The 45-year-old American professional skater has taken to Twitter to slam the clip of Allegra Stratton answering questions at a mock press conference on December 22 2020 about a party which reportedly took place the previous Friday.

Taking to the mirco-blogging site, Matt, who is paired with Coronation Street icon Sally Dynevor for the upcoming 2022 series of the ITV show, voiced his anger following claims a Christmas bash was held at No10 during Covid restrictions.

He called the footage a “f**king joke” after he was forced to isolate and unable to return home to see his loved ones last year.

Matt penned: “‘I’m done now. I’ve never spoken of this. Last Christmas I had a nervous breakdown.

“Unable to return home, I as the rest of my cast, were all in single isolation and it was literal hell.

“Knowing that the government had “meetings” (parties) is a f****** joke. A f****** joke.”

Matt, who has starred on Dancing on Ice since back in 2006, was just one of celebrities to hit out at the government on social media on Tuesday night following the breaking news story.

Former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan also criticised the “shameful” video.

He penned: “Boris Johnson is continuing to lie about last year’s illicit Christmas party at No10 – even when we’ve all now seen his own spokeswoman on video laughing about it & wondering how best to lie about it to the media. Even by his standards, this is absolutely shameful.”

It was revealed that month that Matt would be dancing with soap star Sally Dynevor, otherwise known as Corrie’s Sally Metcalfe.

The actress gushed about her new partner on Instagram alongside a snap of the pair on the ice.

She penned: “Yes I have my partner and I’m so excited. The journey really begins @themattevers@dancingonice.”

Over the years, Matt has been partnered with some of the show’s biggest names – including Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, TV personality Denise Van Outen and Loose Women’s Denise Welch.

Other confirmed celebrities include Love Island’s Liberty Poole and TV presenter Ria Hebden, Strictly’s Brendon Cole and Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt.
