Former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls and Judge Rob Rinder are joining a new Good Morning Britain “super-group” as the show seeks to replace Piers Morgan.
According to The Mirror, The pair will join a host of new talent on the ITV show, including British actor and comedian Adil Ray, former director of communications for Tony Blair, Alastair Campbell, TV host Richard Madeley and Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis, who will all front the programme alongside long-standing host Susanna Reid.
The former Labour politician, 54, will kick off his tenure with a three day slot from Monday, November 15 until Wednesday, November 17.
Rinder, 43, a close friend of Susanna, 50, will co-host next Wednesday and again on December 1.
A source told The Mirror: “It’s been talked about as a super-group of presenters with different personalities, styles and opinions.
“Each brings something fresh to the table and Susanna is the perfect co-host in bringing out their respective qualities.”
The supergroup was introduced after Piers Morgan, 56, left the programme following a row over comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex.
Ed said about his upcoming new role: “I always thoroughly enjoy being a guest on Good Morning Britain but I have a sneaky suspicion I’m going to enjoy hosting alongside Susanna even more.
“I was a guest during my stint on Strictly and Susanna and I recreated one of my dance lifts. I can reassure everyone that won’t happen again and my feet will be firmly on the ground.”
Ed has been a regular fixture on British TV since losing his parliamentary seat in 2015. The writer and economist had a memorable stint on Strictly come Dancing, and has starred in numerous documentaries including Travels in Trumpland and winning BBC ’s Celebrity Best Home Cook.
Reality courtroom judge Rob Rinder, 43, known for his quick witted humour, said: “Being a seasoned barrister will stand me in good stead on the show, demonstrating I’m as comfortable holding politicians to account as I am judging the week’s TV on the Gogglebox sofa.
“Plus, who wouldn’t want the chance to guest present alongside one of their best friends?”
Good Morning Britain editor Neil Thompson said: “We have a great existing roster of presenters and it’s always exciting to welcome new guest hosts to the show.”
