Holby City viewers were left sunned after ditzy nurse Kylie showed up on the ward with a vibrator as a Secret Santa gift in a mortifying blunder.
As the ward prepared for an evening of Christmas fun with the light-hearted gift-swapping game, fans were left stunned after Kylie realised the massager she thought she’d purchased was actually a sex toy.
After realising she’d left the gift in a box that had been sent down to the urine lab, Kylie spent the rest of the episode trying to track down the present before it was opened.
Viewers took to Twitter to express their mixed reactions to the shocking revelation.
“This is hilarious… though my mum is not finding the funny side of it…” tweeted one follower.
Another commented: “Just the laugh I need today. Who among us hasn’t bought a highly inappropriate secret Santa gift?”
A third added: “Lol vibrator.”
Unfortunately the gift was eventually discovered leaving Kylie to fess up to the blunder, with the embarrassing gaffe leading her to confess her love for Louie.
Elsewhere on the episode Amelia and Eli were excited to get the first glimpse of their unborn child, but their world came crashing down around them when the sonographer was unable to find a heartbeat.
After arranging to meet an oblivious Josh after work, Ange got down on one knee in the memorial garden and asked Josh to marry him.
Floored by Ange’s proposal, Josh realised he needed to be honest with her about his bulimia recovery.
After telling Ange that his therapy sessions haven’t been going as well as he’d hoped and he’s struggling to get the illness under control he rejected her proposal.
Despite the hiccup Josh changed his mind and proposed to Ange.
After the drama-filled episode aired fans took to Twitter to beg the BBC not to cancel the medical drama series.
One use wrote: “Week after week Holby City is consistently gripping, great storylines and fantastic characters come on BBC biiiiig mistake do the right thing!”
A second added: “Well that was absolutely wonderful. Fantastically festive and tragic in equal measure, even with a few old friends. It still boggles the mind that this show is going to be over in a few months. What a hole in the television landscape it will leave.”
While a third blasted: “When the final episode of Holby City ends, I’ll have no reason to watch BBC. I still can’t believe it is getting cancelled, just to be replaced by the same rubbish found on other channels.”
