Lorraine apologises after she talks over actress in awkward ITV gaffe

Lorraine Kelly was introducing her upcoming guest Gaynor Faye on the show today when ITV suffered a technical blunder.

The Scottish presenter has a brief window to introduce what’s coming up on the programme ahead of the break between Good Morning Britain and Lorraine.

But unfortunately while the machine of breakfast television is normally incredibly slick, today there was a slight delay and Lorraine had to apologise.

Gaynor Faye is best known for her role as Megan Macey, the successful wedding planner on Emmerdale.

Following the star’s departure from the Dales last year now she is set to appear in the highly-anticipated new BBC One drama The Syndicate alongside Neil Morrissey.

In a brief promo that showcased the pair’s acting, Lorraine carried on explaining what was coming up on today’s show.

Realising the trailer had already begun and viewers were starting to miss Gaynor and Neil’s riveting scenes, she quickly apologised.

“Oh sorry!” she hastened to say.

Gaynor later appeared on Lorraine’s sofa in the studio to discuss her upcoming role on the BBC series and what it was like to work with Line of Duty star Neil.

The presenter also interviewed royal biographer Andrew Morton, who is releasing another new book about the family, via video link on the programme today.

Andrew shared his thoughts on the family’s latest dramas, saying he was surprised at Meghan Markle’s claims the “Firm” hadn’t listened to her when she told them she needed help for her suffering with mental health difficulties.

Princess Diana had an incredibly close bond to her two sons William and Harry

The author also said he hoped “the spirit of [Princess] Diana” could heal the rift between Prince William and Harry.

The brothers haven’t seen each other in months, but they are set to reunite this summer when they unveil the memorial statue of their mother over two decades after she died in a car crash in Paris.

“Hopefully the spirit of Diana can help in some sort of reconciliation when they unveil her statue at Kensington Palace Gardens this summer,” Andrew said.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
