Nadia Sawalha has shared her anguish over her dog potentially losing its eye, as it undergoes treatment in a hospital for canines.
The TV star posted a heartfelt image of her dog, Chi Chi, to her 453,000 Instagram followers.
Five days ago, Nadia let her fans know Chi Chi was poorly and in hospital, and while the dog has made a recovery, it seems one of her eyes might be at risk.
This week, Nadia shared an update, saying: “The hospital just called and said she is happier in herself and making good progress! Although they may not be able to save her left her the good news is she has vision in her right.
“The bugger is that she can’t actually come home when she gets better because Toffee has BLOODY KENNEL COUGH!! Ugh.”
The Loose Women star previously described the family’s upset over Chi Chi’s health battle, admitting they’d endured an “utterly heartbreaking” week.
She said: “This last week has been incredibly tough for my family and I, and indeed, all our friends that love our gorgeous cockerpoo Chi Chi almost as much as we do. Your support has been incredible too.
“Chi Chi has quite frankly been through hell over the last week. Bless her. She has been in hospital since Monday night. It’s been an absolute roller coaster as her symptoms were so complexed and therefore baffling.
“The range of specialists she’s seen over the last week have been left utterly perplexed as to what’s been wrong with her.
“She has had every test and scan imaginable. They have thankfully been able to manage her pain throughout and she has been heavily sedated. She’s been through so much and is so bloody brave.
“There have been many suggestions for her diagnosis everything from snake bites to lupus has been discussed. And at one point they thought the internal bleeding she’d had would leave her totally blind.”
Nadia added: “We were convinced we were about to lose her and this morning was utterly heartbreaking as we waited for the call from the vet.”
Nadia’s fans were quick to offer their support, as they said: “Come on Chi Chi, you’ve got this! Sending love to you all xxx.”
Another added: “That’s great news hopefully Chi chi Will be home soon.”
One said: “Aww that’s great news, bless Chi Chi they r like ur babies aren’t they? Xx.”
Glad she had recovered, another said: “So pleased that they have found out what is wrong. Hope she makes a speedy recovery Hugs to you all.”
Nadia shares the adorable pooch with her husband Mark Adderley and their two teenage daughters, Maddie and Kiki-Bee.
The family, who have their own podcast and a raft of YouTube subscribers, frequently share details about their private lives – meaning fans would have felt a sincere bond with poor Chi Chi.
Hopefully the loveable pup will return home safe and sound in the coming days.
