“Next tour, after this one, I’m changing the genre. It’s not stand-up, it’s sit-down,” quips Ricky.

The famous funnyman said he first had back problems when he was left bedridden after injuring himself during a tennis game in Italy.

He said loyal partner Jane kept him “hydrated” with bottles of Budweiser, which he also had to pee in, as the pain was so bad he couldn’t walk to the bathroom.

He said it happened last time after playing tennis

Ricky explained how common an occurrence it is: “It’s probably happened ten times significantly in 30 years, usually when I’m putting a toothbrush back or doing up a f****** shoelace.

“It’s horrible. You forget how much you rely on your spine.”

He has been keeping busy editing the much awaited series three of his hit series After Life.

Fans will be sad if what he’s saying is true as he revealed: “I’m 99 per cent confident it will be the end. When you see it I think you’ll agree.
