Strictly's AJ Odudu admits she's 'gutted' about tripping up on yellow dress

AJ Odudu says she’s “gutted” over her latest performed on Strictly Come Dancing after she slipped on her stunning yellow dress during her complex dance routine.

The 33-year-old performed a fiery Pasodoble on Saturday night with her first-time professional dance partner Kai Waddington but suffered a slight slip-up during her routine.

She reflected on the “disappointing” dance online after she found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard with a low score of 28 out of a possible 40 from the judging panel.

But many fans were completely unaware of the blink-and-you’ll miss-it incident until the northern lass shared a clip of the mistake on Instagram.

Despite the minor setback, AJ said the pair had ‘kept going’ as if the slip never happened and completed the Spanish routine without another hiccup.

She penned: “Gutted about the cheeky little slip on my dress during our power Paso tonight but I tried my best and we kept going. Olé!!”

The TV presenter later shared the full video of their entire routine from the night which showcased how the pair managed to power through the slight slip up and deliver an impressive performance.

She captioned the clip: “The category is: Paso Doble extravaganza! Serving you a death drop, chasse cape & unexpected slip realness @bbcstrictly.”

And her loyal legion of fans reassured the starlet that the subtle mistake was barely noticeable on screen.

Former Strictly champion Ore Oduba said: “Totally thought it was choreo!! Was amazing babe.”

Another fan added: “I thought you were fantastic! I didn’t even notice the slip so to have done it and carried on without making it obvious just shows how professional you are.”

A third chimed in with: “I didn’t even notice the slip. You were great!”

The pair came bottom of the leaderboard but loyal fans voted to keep them through to next week’s show

It comes after AJ topped the leaderboard last week with an impressive score of 39 for their energetic Charleston which was jam-packed with lifts, kicks and plenty of bruises.

Speaking to host Claudia Winkleman, AJ said: “This week has been really hard and when you take a lot of tumbles – with all those lifts, I kept landing on my face.

“And when you take a lot of tumbles, bashed and bruised, you end up losing confidence in yourself a little bit and honestly, Kai, I don’t know how he does it but he manages to pull out some confidence in me, right before the dance, even then.”
