Amanda Holden flying to Poland to hear Ukraine refugees' heartbreaking stories

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has jetted out to cover the Ukraine crisis, Daily Star can reveal.

The presenter, 51, has risked her life by going to a refugee camp on the border with Ukraine to report on the war for her new podcast.

It means she can interview refugees who have fled Ukraine over the past month.

A source close to the star said: “Amanda is heading out to Poland to record interviews for her podcast.

“She wants to give refugees a voice and help them tell their stories. This is something she is very passionate about, so she wants to use her platform to help them.”

Amanda launched podcast Ukraine’s Hidden Voices earlier this month in the wake of the conflict there.

Since then there have been seven episodes highlighting the horrors happening since Russia launched an invasion.

Our source added: “Amanda decided to launch the podcast after getting some heartbreaking messages on Instagram.”

When the podcast launched, Amanda said: “I wanted to use this podcast to speak with mums, dads, sons and daughters about what is happening on the ground in Ukraine.

She will be covering the interviews on her podcast

“At this time it’s vital that we don’t turn away, but we turn towards them and hear their stories and try to help in any way we can. Their stories are so important.”

The podcast’s official page says: “Ukraine’s Hidden Voices will bring you interviews and conversations with many people from many different walks of life, all trying to survive and make the best life possible for themselves, their family and friends as the War in Ukraine continues.”

Amanda is following in the footsteps of fellow presenters Clive Myrie and Robert Rinder, who have already reported from areas affected by the conflict.

The star is also set to return to screens later this year as Britain’s Got Talent has resumed filming the auditions for the 2021 series after taking a break during the Covid pandemic.

ITV bosses were forced to halt auditions during the height of the pandemic, leaving viewers devastated as they had to wait even longer for the new series.
