Carol Kirkwood opens up about future on BBC Breakfast after 'new job' speculation

BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood has opened up about her future on the BBC Breakfast after the rumour mill began to swirl last week.

The 59-year-old meteorologist found herself at the centre of speculation after red sofa host Dan Walker announced he was stepping down from his role earlier this month.

It was predicted that Carol would step into Dan’s shoes while others guessed she’d be moving on to pastures new.

Setting the record straight, the weather expert took to her Twitter platform to end the ongoing debate after floods on people had congratulated her on her “new job”.

One person chimed: “@carolkirkwood congratulations on your new job as a Morning presenter.”

However, Carol was keen to silence any speculation, instantly taking to social media replying: “No T! Staying on @BBCBreakfast xxx”

Carol’s name was thrown into the mix after Strictly star Dan announced he was heading over to Channel 5 to take up an opportunity that he simply “couldn’t refuse”.

This left viewers of the popular news programme speculating who might join Sally Nugent as her new co-star.

As the tweets mounted up to suggest that Carol would be next in line to take over the reins, Dan Walker jumped on the bandwagon to offer up some kind words.

Having a poke at the rumours last week, Dan congratulated Carol on her “new job” over on his own social media platform.

Getting in on the action, the presenter shared a picture of Carol from an article along with the caption: “Fans think Carol Kirkwood could replace the star.”
