Corrie fans convinced Audrey set for downward spiral after latest hospital stint

Coronation Street fans are convinced Audrey Roberts is set for a major downward spiral after she appeared to attempt suicide following a string of worrying behaviour.

Viewers saw Audrey in hospital on the latest episode of the ITV soap following a get-together for her birthday.

When Gail went to check on her mum later and discovered she wasn’t there, Audrey lied on the phone claiming she was at home feeling tired, when in fact she was in the hospital.

Soon a doctor came along and told her a psychiatric liaison officer would be coming to discuss what happened.

Audrey insisted she took a few too many sleeping pills by mistake when she had been drinking.

But the doctor said that the toxicology report didn’t suggest an accident and that the number of sleeping pills she took indicated it was deliberate.

Fans are now concerned that she is headed on a dangerous path and is “very vulnerable.”

“Poor Audrey’s at a low ebb…and extremely vulnerable. This is only going to get worse,” said one viewer.

“I can’t believe that Audrey attempted to take her own life.”

Another even predicted her son Stephen had been spiking her drink in a bid to get his hands on her fortune.

“reckon Stephen is sneaking in & adding sleeping pills to Audrey’s drinks & she’s taking what she thinks is the proper dose on top cos he needs the money from her will & he’s going to do a bunk with it all #coronationstreet ”

Over the last few weeks her family have been arguing over her money.

She was furious when they started rowing at a meal and grandson David drove Stephen out of Weatherfield.

As Audrey leaves the hospital, she’s thrilled to get a call from Stephen telling her he’s coming back.
