Emma Willis has told how she exclaimed “don’t you dare” when her husband Matt dropped down on one knee to propose to her.
The TV presenter said the Busted star popped the question as they were on holiday in Venice together.
But she was taken aback – not because she didn’t want him to propose – but because he was doing it on one of the city’s most famous bridges, where plenty of people could see.
Opening up on The One Show, Emma said: “We were in Venice and it was my birthday and he kept wanting to go on walks down little canals which is really not kind of Matt really.
“He went really quiet and I actually thought he was going to finish with me.”
She went on: “Then we got to the Rialto Bridge and we got to the top and he looked at me and he pulled this box out of his pocket and he went to kind of drop on one knee and I just went, ‘Don’t you dare’ and grabbed him.”
Emma said while she wanted Matt to ask her to marry him, the spot he picked was a bit public.
“Don’t do it here, everyone’s looking!” she said.
“But he did do it and it was lovely,” added the star.
Emma and Matt went on to tie the knot back in 2008, just one year after the happy couple became engaged.
The couple welcomed their daughter, Isabelle, the following year. Son Ace arrived in 2011 and in 2016, they had a third child named Trixie.
Last July, Emma shared a snap on Instagram of her and Matt snuggled up in bed together as they celebrated their anniversary.
“Happy anniversary @mattjwillis entering our 13th year as a married couple,” she wrote.
“Some say 13 is unlucky… I say, as long as I’ve got you, I’m the luckiest girl around. Love you babe…”
