Good Morning Britain viewers are not impressed about seeing Richard Bacon step back from his presenting role alongside Susanna Reid.
Richard has cropped up on screen a handful of times in recent weeks and to kick off the new year he also took on the job as Susanna’s co-presenter.
On Wednesday morning’s show, Susanna recalled that Richard had told her that it was his last day on the set after he joked that Susanna had attempted to fire him “twice in the last five minutes”.
Susanna responded: “I’m not firing you at all, more than happy for you to be here as often as you like but you told me today is your last day.”
Richard said: “It is my last day, yeah it is,” which prompted a sad reaction from his co-stars.
It came after Susanna had said she would love to get Sir David Attenborough to join them to host a morning show instead of her current co-star.
Luckily, Richard had no disagreements, as he added: “If you replaced Richard Bacon with David Attenborough, that’s not a sideways move.”
While David Attenborough would be a great addition to the show, fans couldn’t help but share their frustrations after finding out that Richard wouldn’t be back on screens.
Taking to Twitter, viewers have been calling for Richard to be made into a regular fixture on the show following his successful stint.
Taking to Twitter, one user wrote: “Can Richard Bacon be a permanent fixture on GMB please? A breath of fresh air!”
Another wrote: “Great to see Richard Bacon back again… my favourite!”
A third chirped: “Good morning, can we please keep Richard Bacon on GMB.”
A fourth said: “Great to see Richard Bacon on GMB. Sad to hear it’s his last day. He has done a great job and been a welcome addition, in my opinion. Only wish he could stay on – please?”
GMB has a range of presenters hosting the show, with Susanna Reid and Kate Garraway acting as the main fixtures throughout the week and often joined by the likes of Richard Madeley, Adil Ray, Ben Shephard and Martin Lewis.
Piers Morgan was formerly the permanent fixture alongside Susanna on the show prior to his exit following his explosive row regarding Meghan Markle last year which prompted over 50,000 Ofcom complaints.
GMB returns weekdays at 6am on ITV.
