Waking at 6am, Martin reflected on the difficult night from inside his sodden sleeping bag.
He initially told followers last night: “And so my night sleeping rough begins. Ridiculous but actually feeling quite lonely. And it’s bloody cold.
“But I only have to do this for one night. Some people don’t have that choice. Support me with a reply or donate!”
He explained from his chilly perch under a number of blankets: “I’m freezing. There is frost on my ground mat. It’s damp like you wouldn’t believe. I can’t sleep. This is the real deal.
“Help me raise funds so others don’t have to go through this,” he pleaded with fans.
Upon waking, Martin told fans: “Well, I survived the night. It’s been really unpleasant. But an eye opener to the reality of sleeping rough.
“Do what you can to help people who have no choice but to do it. Love Martin.”
The star has so far raised a whopping £1,719 for charity.
Martin was allowed to use toilet facilities during his sleep-out, with an organisation called RCT providing bacon sandwiches and hot drinks when the sleepers woke for breakfast.

And he confessed that while the experience was “cushy” in comparison to what many homeless people endure, it was still “tough” to battle through.
Fans rushed to support Martin in the Twitter replies section, with one writing: “Well done for sticking it out all night. I moan because I have no central heating in the cold but I’m indoors and dry and have the option to turn on my electric heater if needed. Homeless people don’t.”
Someone else agreed: “Well done I bet it was tough What’s that saying we are all only one paycheque from poverty. It could happen to anyone. Massive well done for highlighting this.”
