James Martin sparked health concerns amongst fans after he took to Instagram with a worrying post about his health on Monday (November 21).
The ITV chef, 50, revealed to his followers that he was in hospital alongside his dog, Ralph and they were both needing an operation.
Sharing a close up shot of Ralph as well as a hospital door with an MRI Suite plaque, James penned: “Seems as if we are both getting old fella! Dropped him off for an op this morning, now it seems I need one.”

Later taking to the comment section, the former Saturday Kitchen Live star confirmed that Ralph was getting better but seemed to skip the part about his own health.
He wrote to his 701,000 followers: “‘Thank you for all your messages, very kind. Ralph is ok and out and on the mend cheers. Me on the other hand well we will see see.”
Fans headed straight to the comments to send their well wishes to the chef and his pet pooch.
“Goodness. Hope it’s not too serious for either of you,” penned one user.
Another added: “Ohh sorry to hear that you are not well hope you are getting the best care James lots of love.”
“Need to take it steady , hope Ralph is alright after his op,” echoed a third.
While someone else commented: “Awww sending love and big hugs to you both, hope it’s nothing too serious for either of you James.”
His trip to the hospital comes after an appearance on Loose Women where he revealed he lost three stone after swapping fizzy drinks for water.
Speaking to the panel, he explained: “I don’t drink tea or coffee so fizzy drinks were always sort of my nemesis really and in the kitchen particularly.
“We found that in Covid I wasn’t concentrating and getting this massive sugar rush, so I just swapped to water.
“The minute I swapped to water, it was nearly three stone,” he added.
