ITV thriller No Return has made many viewers think twice about dusting off their passports.
The tense drama saw Sheridan Smith play Kathy Powell, whose family are dragged into a nightmare while on holiday in Turkey.
The plot centred around Kathy’s teenage son Noah, who was accused of sexual assaulting another boy.
Noah was played by Louis Ashbourne Serkis, 17.
Although No Return is a high profile gig for the young actor, it was not his first role.
Louis has previously appeared in the films The Kid Who Would be King and Alice Through the Looking Glass, plus ITV’s period crime drama Endeavour and Netflix chess drama The Queen’s Gambit.
Louis isn’t the only actor in his family, though.
His father Andy Serkis is a global star thanks to his motion capture roles as Gollum in Lord of the Rings and supreme leader Snoke in the Star Wars franchise.
Louis played opposite and was directed by his dad in the film Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle in 2018 as Bhoot, an albino Indian wolf cub in Akela’s pack and Mowgli’s friend.
Meanwhile, Andy’s wife and Louis’s mum, Lorraine Ashbourne, is also an actress and has worked on a huge number of TV series since the late 1980s.
One of her most recent roles was as housekeeper Mrs Varley in Bridgerton.
No Return viewers clocked the likeness between Louis and his famous father.
One fan tweeted: “Catching up with No Return. Don’t have to check out the cast list to see who’s son Noah is. Brilliant #deadringer @andyserkis.”
Another quipped: “Absolutely mad that Andy Serkis is playing his own son through motion capture rather than just letting him give it a go.”
A third fan wrote: “Watching No Return amazing @Sheridansmith1 all the cast and especially @andyserkis your son is an amazing young actor. Fantastic xx.”
Meanwhile, despite the praise for Louis, some fans were miffed by the ending to No Return.
Noah was ultimately hit with a three-year suspended sentence due to the other boy’s age and he was allowed to fly home – but fans were unimpressed.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “So much to be resolved. We needed another episode.”
While another added: “Still so many questions left and that wasn’t a happy ending.”
