Louise Minchin shares concerns as she teases potential Strictly Come Dancing stint

Former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin has dropped a huge hint that she might take part in a future series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The presenter and host, 56, shared the revelation on her podcast Push Your Peak and has said she has not ruled out appearing on the programme following her recent reality TV stints since leaving BBC Breakfast.

She has already taken part in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! at Gwyrch Castle in 2021, and has now hinted that she could follow in former BBC Breakfast co-host Dan Walker’s shoes, who she cheered on in the previous series.

Speaking on her recent podcast Push Your Peak with Strictly star Karen Hauer, 39, she said: “People say, ‘are you ever going to do Strictly?”

Although Louise said it was not on the cards at the moment – she has not ruled out a stint on the show – and said she can imagine how tough it is to take part.

She said: “Because of what I’ve done with endurance sport I have an inclination of what that might feel like and I can imagine that it’s sore, sore, sore.”

Louise also expressed her concerns about being in pain during the competition, to which Karen Hauer replied: “It is tough.

“I think that if anyone wants to do Strictly, as a professional or as a celebrity, your activity levels, your stamina, the way that your body is, has to be at a top peak.”

She added: “You can’t come into Strictly cold.

“Especially for celebrities, for the people who are not used to doing what we’re doing, they have to go to the gym.”

She concluded: “You have to go for runs. Getting movement into your body. Releasing your muscles. Getting your body used to that.”

However reflecting on the long hours of training as a professional dancer, Karen added: “[For the dancers] You don’t even think about it. I just go on autopilot.

“But for the celebrities, they’re in pain all the time.”
