Meghan Markle could’ve been set to appear on Strictly Come Dancing, however she “didn’t get the job.”
Author Tom Bower was welcomed onto Lorraine with stand in host Christine Lampard where he revealed all about his new book, Revenge.
The writer, 75, didn’t have the kindest things to say about the Duchess of Sussex, calling her relationship with the royals “very toxic” and “poisonous” since she sat down for the infamous Oprah Winfrey interview.

The journalist also revealed that Meghan “wanted” to feature on BBC’s Strictly but things “didn’t work out.”
He told Christine: “She came to England looking for work, for fame, and also a boyfriend because she was always obsessed with finding an English boyfriend, and the man who introduced her to Strictly Come Dancing was a bit disappointed she didn’t get the job.”
He added: “She wanted it. He wanted it, but it sort of didn’t work out.”
But she came back to England anyway and got the Strictly and the dancing, she’s got everything.”
Tom noted that he hadn’t given the Suits actress much thought until she did the Oprah Winfrey interview which he labelled a “disgrace.”
The 75-year-old said: “I thought she behaved so badly, Harry too. And I wanted to know what happened before, what was her life about that would lead her into that interview where she said so many things which were just untrue and damaging.”
Despite this, the former television producer assured that he tried his best to present a balanced argument about Meghan in the book.
He noted that she didn’t make it easy for him however, because she contacted people to make sure no one would speak to him.
The Loose Women star asked: “Are you suggesting she was picking up phones to try and stop people from contacting you?”
To which Tom replied: “Absolutely, I know that happened. It’s my 26th book, I know when people cutting me out and it was just ridiculous how difficult it was to get to people – who I genuinely wanted to hear who would side with her.”
He went on to say: “But obviously she’s a person that controls the narrative, she controls people, she ghosts people like her father or the royal family when she doesn’t like them.”
“She’s a very determined woman and she thought she could cut me off, but she failed.”
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
