Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi series has landed on streaming service Disney+ – and early indications show that it is delighting fans, with some hailing it as ‘the best thing ever’.
Hollywood star Ewan McGregor reprises his role as Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in the series, which begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.
The film saw Obi-Wan Kenobi face his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.
Now 17 years since Revenge Of The Sith was released in 2005, fans are praising the new Obi-Wan Kenobi series, with one saying on social media: “Obi-Wan Kenobi. That’s it. That’s the tweet.”
A second added: “So worth it to stay up late for Obi-wan Kenobi – I expected great things but that blew it out of the water. Scale. Scope. Acting. Characters. Story.”
Meanwhile, viewers have also praised the series as one of the ‘best ever’, with a third commenting: “Obi-Wan Kenobi might be the best thing I’ve seen ever. Not exaggerating.”
A fourth said: “The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi were incredible,” adding “this will be the best show to ever exist.”
The first two episodes of the series launched on Disney+ today (May 27, 2022), with a new episode streaming weekly – but it seems fans cannot wait to see what is in store.
One fan asked on social media: “Watched it. Loved it. More please,” while a second said: “Loved the first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi. I cannot wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds.”
Another praised actor Ewan McGregor in his famous role, saying he “is really great in it.”
With the first episode showing a recap of the events of Star Wars Episodes I-III, the series also holds plenty of nostalgia for fans, with one fan commenting on social media: “Watching Obi-wan Kenobi reminded me all those years ago, the excitement when the prequels came out.”
The final moments of the second episode also gave fans their first glimpse of Anakin Skywalker, otherwise known as Darth Vader – with viewers eagerly awaiting the return of Hayden Christensen to the series.
With an all-star cast including Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie, Obi-Wan Kenobi is certainly proving popular with fans on social media – and we cannot wait to see what else lies in store in the series.
