Strictly's Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni reunite for emotional Comic Relief dance

Comic Relief fans loved watching Strictly Come Dancing winners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice reunite for an emotional dance.

The fan-favourite pair took to the dancefloor for the first time since being crowned the victors on the beloved BBC dancing show in December.

Rose and Giovanni wowed the nation with an emotional waltz to Ellie Goulding’s How Long Will I Love You during Friday night’s Comic Relief on BBC One (March 18).

The duo were all smiles as they dazzled the BBC’s Salford studio – which is hosting the annual fundraising event for the first time.

It’s fair to say the fans at home loved seeing the duo reunite on the dancefloor, and many flocked to Twitter to talk about the moment.

A third gushed: “It’s so good to see Rose and Giovanni dance again. The best couple Strictly have ever had!”

Speaking after their dance, Rose said: “It’s really nice to dance together again because we went through a really special journey.

“So every time we get to pair up it brings happy memories and we really enjoy dancing together. I really miss ballroom so I really enjoyed it.”

Host Lenny Henry asked Rose what it was like to win the nation’s heart on Strictly, and she replied: “It’s been really nice, it’s really nice to see my friends and family again and I have bumped into quite a lot of people in the public and they come up to me and some of them start crying and get emotional and it’s really sweet.

“I start to realise how much I have made an affect to everyone.”

Giovanni added: “Disability, as Rose showed, it doesn’t have to stop anybody if you really want to follow your dream and you really love dancing you just have to go and do it.

“This year the final showed how diverse and inclusive everyone can be. To be in a final like that was just the cherry on the cake. I’m very, very privileged.”

This year’s Comic Relief was hosted by Alesha Dixon, Paddy McGuinness, David Tennant and Lenny Henry.
