The Sopranos actor Paul Herman has died at the age of 76, passing away on his birthday.
Herman was best known for playing the role of Peter ‘Beanise’ Gaeta in The Sopranos and Whispers in The Irishman.
The legendary actor’s death was confirmed on Tuesday 29 March 2022 by fellow co-star Michael Imperioli – who played Christopher Moltisanti in the HBO TV series.
On Instagram, Imperioli penned: “Our friend and colleague Paul Herman has passed away. Paulie was just a great dude.
“A first-class storyteller and raconteur and one hell of an actor. Goodfellas, Once Upon a Time in America, The Irishman, and of course The Sopranos are some highlights.
“Paulie lived around the corner from me the last few years and I am glad we got to spend some time together before he left us.
“I’ll miss him. Lots of love to his family, friends, and community of actors and filmmakers.”
As the sad news circulated online, masses of The Sopranos fans offered up words of condolence.
One tribute read: “It was a small yet very memorable role. Paul Herman played it very well, I think most fans have a soft spot (and for good reason) for Beansie.”
Another person said: “Great character actor. Entourage accountant , Casino and so many fabulous cameos. RIP Beansie. Veal Parm forever!”
“Oh no! I watched an episode over the weekend and in the end credits, the first 4 guest stars were all deceased. I counted 12 actors in all in that episode alone, that had passed. No one can say David Chase practiced age discrimination in casting. We got to see some great ones,” commented a third.”
Other online users wrote: “RIP Beans,” “I just started Entourage today and spotted him. Damn,” “Oh no another one gone RIP” and “He played his roles so well including his role on Entourage as Marvin.”
Herman also starred in a number of Box Office hit movies, including Up Close, We Own the Night, Heatwave, Crazy Heart, Fast Change, Sleeper, Police Land, The Fan, Analyzing That and The Day-tripper.
In addition, he appeared in Entourage as Vincent Chase’s accountant Marvin.
As a close associate of Robert De Niro he starred alongside his pal in many other films, such as Falling in Love, Once Upon a Time in America, Little Fockers, and American Hustle.
The Brooklyn, New York actor’s cause of death is not yet known.
