Amanda Holden’s TV show axed after one series despite bosses 'loving working with her'

Amanda Holden has faced a major career blow as her comedy show, co-staring pal Keith Lemon, has been axed by Channel 4 bosses.

The 52-year-old starred in the faux reality mockumentary series, called The Holden Girls: Mandy and Myrtle.

The show followed Amanda’s “life” as she persuaded her nan (played by Keith) to move from Doncaster to her snazzy London home.

However, despite the show being given an eight-part first season which aired in September 2021, it has now been cannned.

A source told The Sun: “The Holden Girls proved hilarious together and bosses loved working with Amanda and Keith. But they’ve decided to focus their attention on new comedy shows.”

The sitcom might not be getting another series, but Amanda will soon be back on TV screens for the new series of Britain’s Got Talent.

Amanda will be back on the judging panel for the hit ITV show, alongside Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell.

Strictly alum Bruno Tonioli will be stepping in as the fourth judge, replacing David Walliams.

Amanda recently opened up about her experience working with judge Bruno Tonioli on the upcoming BGT series.

The star praised the “bonkers” judge and expressed that there is no bad blood between them. In fact, she even called Bruno a great addition to the panel.

However, it was reported that Amanda and her co-star Alesha Dixon had initially held back on signing their contracts for the show.

The reason for their hesitation was said to be their displeasure with newcomer Bruno’s salary matching their own, reportedly £850,000.

Despite the initial issue, Amanda seems to be enjoying her time on the show and wowing fans with her fashion choices both on and off-screen.

In an interview with MailOnline, Amanda, who has been a judge on the ITV talent show for 17 years, revealed that she has no intention of leaving anytime soon.

The presenter stated that her goal is to reach 18 years on the show, jokingly adding that she’ll “probably be carried out on a stretcher”.

Amanda said, “I mean I’m definitely doing one more year after this.
