Channel 4 News chaos as weatherman cuts off midway through report in awkward blunder

Channel 4 News was thrown into chaos after its weatherman was abruptly cut off in the middle of his forecast.

The station’s primary news bulletin at 7pm was airing on Wednesday night (November 29), and was coming to an end before it cut to weatherman Liam Dutton, who was waiting in the wings. As producers cut to Liam, he began his weather forecast with no hitches.

But things soon went wrong as he brought the latest forecast, he suddenly seemed to freeze live on-air. Giving the latest information, Liam explained: “There will be a few patches of freezing fog for Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia.

As Liam halted his report midway through, someone off-screen could be heard saying: “Somebody has just opened the door.” Welshman Liam seemingly seemed bewildered as he stopped his forecast, before producers of the news programme pulled the plug early on the weather forecast.

Viewers watching the flagship edition of the news show on Channel 4 were quick to notice the awkward blunder. Many of these viewers then took to social media to try and find out what had happened to Liam’s report.

One user was left in disbelief as the show cut off early: “Bit of a cliffhanger on Channel 4 weather tonight…” Whilst a second viewer was confused as to who the person had interrupted the report: “Who opened the door on Liam doing the Channel 4 News weather?”

Whilst a third keen fan of the news programme blasted the situation as “weird”, writing: “Okay that was weird on Channel 4 weather. Who opened the door?”

Addressing the awkward technical faux pas, weatherman Liam posted an explanation on social media. Clearing up the confusion, he said: “Hi everyone, thanks for asking – but no need to worry, I’m fine.”

He continued: “The wrong take of the pre-recorded weather was aired. Who was at the door shall remain a mystery…”

Liam has previously gone viral after a clip of him pronouncing a tricky place name did numbers on social media. During a report, he was able to perfectly pronounce the small Welsh town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch with ease, which saw people from across the world commend his pronunciation.
