Harry Potter star Flick Miles, who starred alongside Emma Watson as Hermione Granger’s body double, has revealed that Daniel Radcliffe’s voice had to be digitally altered in the early films.
Miles spoke exclusively to Daily Star about the reason why the production team had to use some magic of their own to keep the consistency throughout the franchise.

She explained: “The scene in the railway carriage, some of it was filmed externally on location but the interior of the carriage, when they’re first going to Hogwarts, was obviously on stage.”
Miles said that particular scene would be the producer’s backup option, just in case the crew couldn’t film outside.
Flick went on: “That would always be the wet weather cover, so if we were filming something and it was going to be terrible weather, we would go inside and film the railway carriage scenes on the Hogwarts express.”
Fans of the franchise will, of course, remember the iconic train scenes in the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and its sequels.
Miles revealed that the magical students underwent some real life post production sorcery due to a rather unexpected reason.
At the time of filming, Daniel was eleven-years-old, Emma Watson was 10 and Rupert Grint was 12.
The train scenes were usually filmed out of order, so the crew discovered a rather tricky obstacle they had to overcome.
Flick revealed: “If you actually watch [those] scenes, you’ll see the children look a lot older in some parts because obviously Harry Potter was filmed over nine months.”
“I think when you’re like, 12, 13, you change so much, you lose a bit of puppy fat and they had to digitally alter Daniel Radcliffe’s voice because it was getting deeper, so it sounded different!”
Due to Radcliffe’s changing vocals, the Harry Potter star’s dialogue was edited so that his conversations would all sound the same.
Miles continued: “If you really watch it closely, it is funny. It’s a logistical nightmare as we’re all changing and growing. It’s all filmed out of sequence as well.”
“The scene we filmed [in the train] was actually the last scene we ever filmed!”
