I’m A Celeb fans gasping at Shaun Ryder’s jaw-dropping facial hair confession

Shaun Ryder shocked his campmates when he revealed the reason he was forced to wear sunglasses on ITV’s I’m A Celeb… South Africa.

The All Stars series of the hit ITV show kicked off on Monday night (April 24), and it saw the likes of Countdown star Carol Vorderman and Corrie stunner Helen Flanagan take to the jungle.

But Happy Mondays singer Shaun left fans gasping when he rocked up to camp with a pair of shades, and admitted he had to wear them as he had no eyelashes.

The 60-year-old was keen to tell his co-stars like former boxer Amir Khan that he wasn’t a “tw**” that wore sunglasses for the sake of it.

He said: “I’m not a tw** wearing sunglasses when it’s dark. I’ve got no eyelashes, so all the sh** gets in my eyes.”

But Amir reassured him with a pat on the shoulder, telling the singer: “Oh, don’t worry!”

But Carol seemed shocked as she asked: “What?!”

Fans couldn’t believe Shaun didn’t have any eyelashes and rushed to Twitter to comment on it during the show, with many simply wanting to know why he didn’t have them.

One asked: “what happened to Shaun’s eye lashes?”

Another joined in as they asked: “Shaun’s got no eyelashes?…”

One quipped: “Shaun Ryder hiding nothing – non existent eyelashes.”

A fourth added: “Never seen someone with no eyelashes wtf. It is actually strange!”

The first episode saw Carol, Amir Khan and Jordan Banjo face a 50m drop over the edge of a mountain, and the likes of Helen Flanagan battle her fear of heights in a Total Wipeout-style challenge.

Shaun was also seen sporting his sunglasses during his own challenge with former royal butler Paul Burrell and former US model Janice Dickinson.

The trio had to take on the Trunks of Torture challenge, where they had to take to a river in a raft and put their hands in holes filled with frogs in order to collect stars that earned meals for camp on their first night.

The stars were locked onto the trees in the river, but the key for the locks were in the ‘hell holes’ – filled with the likes of frogs and critters.
