Jeremy Renner got 'lucky' after horror snow plough incident 'didn't hit any organs'

Jeremy Renner has admitted he “got lucky in a lot of ways” after he survived a horrific snowplough accident on New Year’s Day.

The Hollywood giant spoke to Jimmy Kimmel on his ABC Late Show on Monday (March 10), a few months after the actor suffered a jaw-dropping incident on the snow that left him with over 35 broken bones.

Following his recent TV appearance on Jimmy’s show, Jeremy, 52, was in good spirits as he told fans he was “happy to be here” as he gave a well-being update.

He told Jimmy: “It’s like a giant metal-like cookie roller, right?”

Adding: “And it just missed every vertebra, did not hit any organs, membrane did not swell — my eye did pop out, that’s weird. But I got pretty lucky that none of the organs got messed up.”

Jeremy sustained massive injuries, including a shattered right knee, broken jaw, and broken clavicle, as well as a punctured liver and a collapsed lung.

Following the incident, Jeremy confessed: “We kept discovering them [broken bones] because they went from critical order of priority of one of my going to die for them or not?,” adding: “Another break, another break.”

He was also left with a condition known as “flail chest.”

Doctors surgically attached metal plates into his torso to stabilise his ribcage and more plates were used to reconstruct a collapsed eye socket.

The actor sustained his injuries when using his snowcat to clear snow from a road near his home in Nevada.

Opening up about the incident shortly after the treatment, the actor confessed: “This whole [right] side of my body, I don’t really feel sensitivity to touch, but it’ll grow. I can feel it, the change already in two months.”

He added: “I feel hardly any of my teeth on the upper part because they went inside my face to put in two plates because of an orbital crack. I’m learning to speak again.”
