Sue Radford has been left in tears over one of her 22 children.
In the latest episode of ’22 Kids and Counting’, emotions ran high on Channel 5 when Sue Radford was left in bits after confronting a tough decision regarding her daughter Tillie’s health. The young girl had been coming home from school upset when her dad Noel realised she was being bullied because of her disability.
After a hospital trip, they were at a crossroads about whether or not Tillie should have a leg operation. Distressed Sue said: “When Tillie was five, she was stood in front of me and I thought, ‘There was a bone like it was sticking out’. I went straight to the doctor and the doctor went, ‘Yep, that definitely doesn’t look right’. There was a problem with that bone.”

Tillie faced a major setback when she was 14 as an infection affected the growth plate in her femur, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Sue turned to video to pour out her feelings, breaking down in her car: “We don’t know if that bone will stop growing, we just have to hope that it doesn’t and that it’s alright. it is an absolute nightmare.”, reports the Mirror.
Highlighting the stakes, Noel outlined that without surgery, Tillie’s leg bone would carry on growing wrongly. Her past involved an operation as a kid and nine months using a device to keep her leg straight.
Despite having surgery to remove the device, Tillie was left with permanent scars. Four years after her operation, she opened up about her ongoing challenges, explaining: “My left still isn’t growing and I am still lop-sided.”
Her dad, Noel, noted a significant change in her condition, saying, “We have seen a massive change in her limp,” and adding, “There is a big difference in the two sides.”
Faced with the prospect of undergoing another major operation to lengthen her leg, Tillie felt uncertain, even though it could transform her life.
After thorough assessments, doctors proposed additional surgery due to the widening disparity in the length of her legs. Sue, expressing shock, asked, “We didn’t realise it was that bad, did we? ” to which Noel confirmed, “No, when she stands in front of us you can see, but there is a massive difference.”
Discussing their options, the doctor asked the critical question, “The million-dollar question is whether you want something to be done,”.
Tillie hesitated at first, admitting, “I am not really sure,” which led Noel to admit to the film crew, “Our heart sank when she said she didn’t want it to be done.” However, after carefully weighing her decision, Tillie eventually decided in favor of the surgery, simply saying, “I want the operation.”
Contemplating her choice further, Tillie expressed hope, remarking, “The aim is to have the operation and then everything from then will get better.” Sally Lindsay, the narrator, rounded off the segment by stating, “The operation is months away, but Tillie has made a decision that could potentially change her life.”
