When we think of something that’s an antique, we usually picture and old ornament or a piece of jewellery. A gran’s breast implants definitely doesn’t fall under that category.
But one bloke left Antiques Roadshow viewers red faced when he rocked up with just those items, to get them valued by experts. In a recent episode of the American version of the BBC show, a man paid a visit to the Alaska National Heritage Centre to meet the experts with the unique items.
He explained to PBS viewers that he had brought with him Dow Corning breast implants, which were made in Michigan back in 1965. The lad received them after they had been passed down through the family from his grandmother as an ongoing inside joke.

These are breast implants from 1965. They were made by Down Corning, Midland, Michigan,” the guest explained. “A bit of a family heirloom, actually. My grandmother found them at a garage sale – unused. It’s a bit of a funny joke. I have my grandmother’s breast implants.”
He claimed people always look at him confused when he tells them he has his grandmother’s breast implants. He had to reassure them they are “new in box, still in the package”.
“They actually do come with the instructions for performing the procedure as well,” he added. Appraisers were left cackling at the find and joked that someone could give themselves the implants as a DIY procedure.
The clip was shared on TikTok with the caption: “Someone brought their grandmother’s vintage breast implants to Antiques Roadshow. This Dow Corning mammary prostheses appraisal is a breast in show moment.”
