Baywatch fans demand Sydney Sweeney to replace Pamela Anderson in new reboot

Baywatch is set to be rebooted. The TV series, which starred David Hasselhoff, 71, and Pamela Anderson, was one of the most-watched shows in the 80s and 90s.

And fans online were quick to suggest Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney, 26, as a potential replacement for Pammie, 56, who played the role of CJ Parker. One said: “A Baywatch reboot is being made, all I can say is please cast Sydney Sweeney as the modern-day Pam Anderson.”

Other contenders include Barbie star Margot Robbie, 33. The new series is set to air on Fox – and will once again follow a group of lifeguards in Los Angeles.

Sydney has had a flourising career and has appeared on shows such as 90210, Criminal Minds, Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars.

In June 2019, the actress began portraying Cassie Howard, a teenager with a promiscuous reputation, in the HBO drama series Euphoria. Her performance received praise from fans and industry professionals alike, earning her a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2022.

Last year, actress Pamela revealed that the producers behind the 2017 Baywatch movie initially wanted her to do a cameo for free. But the star was not willing to do it without sufficient payment.

She told Variety: “It was becoming really, really awful. They said they wanted me to do it as a favor I said, ‘I do favors for animals, not for Paramount.’

“There was just so much bullying to do it. They wanted me to do it for free, as an homage or something, I said, ‘Come on, guys. I mean, really?’

After going back and forth with the filmmakers the blonde bombshell agreed to do a cameo without any dialogue. She said about that, “I ended up okay. No complaints.”

Talking about her previous appearance on the show in the 80s, Pamela revealed the “producers of Baywatch made a fortune”. But because she didn’t have the right representation or know-how she missed out.

The 2017 Baywatch movie was directed by Seth Gordon. It also starred huge Hollywood stars which included Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
