BBC star quits ‘with a bang’ after five years as they make emotional statement

A BBC star has bid farewell to the flagship channel after five years with an emotional statement online.

On Monday (August 12), BBC Radio Birmingham and Black Country star Elise Evans took to social media to share her latest career move. The presenter confirmed she is stepping down from the station and her final show is just weeks away.

It’s fair to say her decision came as a surprise to her loyal fanbase. Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – she shared a series of highlights throughout her career at the station.

She wrote: “I’m leaving @bbcwm. What a mad five years! Highs and lows but got to work with some lovely folk and had some brill experiences.

“Time for some new adventures. Last show is 25 August and we’re going out with a BANG! More info coming soon! For now, Radio WM – thanks for the memories,” which she signed off with a kiss.

It didn’t take long before her famous friends and adoring fans showered her with congratulatory messages online. One user penned: “In the same 5 years I’ve had, I’ve watched you achieve so many amazing things there has never been anyone like you Elise & there will never be.”

Another agreed: “Oh Elise we’ve all been so grateful for your support you’re such a gem, look forward to hearing what’s next for you.” A third gushed: “Such a superstar! Can’t wait to see what you do next Elise!”

However, some fans were saddened by the news and shared their disappointment online. One user gushed: “Noooo……… However, I really wish you the very best for your new adventures you so deserve it.

“Always tuned in when you were on the radio right from the beginning and I’ve spoken to you once when entered 7 quiz.” Another echoed: “You are amazing and lovely and authentic, best of luck. I’m shocked, gutted but happy for you.”

A third chimed in with: “I checked with @DonnaAlosRadio and neither of us have received a request to allow this, so unfortunately it’s been denied. Seriously tho… you’ve aced the last 5 years and the West Mids is richer because of it.

“You’ll leave a big hole at WM but you’ll smash whatever’s next!” The 34-year-old’s exit comes after ticking an item off her broadcasting bucket list. In July, she informed her followers how star-struck she was to interview the final member of Busted.

She told her fans: “ This morning I complete the trilogy! The final member of @Busted ticked off the list. @JamesBourne joins me on @bbcwm & @BBCWR from 10.30! Speaking to my fave band in the world… It will never EVER get old.”
