Clive Owen suggested Amanda date pal and saw other woman before marriage split

Clive Owen suggested his ex-wife Amanda should start dating their close pal following their messy divorce.

The Our Yorkshire Farm stars shocked the nation in 2022 when the pair decided to go their separate ways after 22 years together. In an interview with MailOnline, the 50-year-old author explained that as the couple began the process of separation, her former flame had started dating other people.

And he wasn’t the only one who managed to find love again. In fact, the broadcaster explained that it was Clive who “suggested” she start dating their family friend Rob Davies.

Amanda revealed: “Rob [Davies] was a friend that Clive and I had both known for a long time. “What he offered me was conversation rather than confrontation, and Clive knew about it from the very beginning – he actually suggested Rob and I would be a good match.”

Their relationship soon went from strength to strength while the 72-year-old farmer was dating other people. Speaking about his ex-wife’s new connection, Clive added: “They got together at a point when we had already separated so I wasn’t shocked or horrified, and it was never an affair in my mind because I knew about it from the beginning.”

But due to the overwhelming media attention on her new beau, the couple quickly called it quits. The doting mum explained: “Rob and I were both shattered by the way the media pursued us and reported it, and as a result Rob and I are no longer together or in touch.”

The blonde bombshell went on to add that despite all that had happened between her and Clive, she found herself turning to him for comfort. She explained to the publication: “Clive is the person that I talk to now. He’s my confidant and he will now listen to my worries and I his.”

The author added that the TV stars are “separated, but wholly united” as they tackle their new circumstances as co-parents to their brood. The pair share nine children together – Raven, Reuben, Miles, Edith, Violet, Sidney, Annas, Clementine and Nancy.

The Owen clan range in ages from just eight right up to 23. Despite the couple’s split two years ago and the end of their reality show Our Yorkshire Farm, various members of the family have gone on to make more TV appearances.

Reuben Owen was given his own Channel 5 series and Amanda Owen given a Channel 4 show, Amanda Owen’s Real Farming Lives, on More 4. But it hasn’t always been easy for the family to adjust to their life in the limelight.

During an appearance on Lorraine, Clive admitted that their Channel 5 show did indeed cause a strain between them. He confessed: “Oh, without a doubt, and once a wedge begins to come between you for whatever reason… we were under pressure, it was crazy.

“It is crazy and it makes you look at life not as well as you would in normal circumstances. We got to a point where we couldn’t get along at all, and so we parted. It is very sad, but it is what it is.”
