Coronation Street Dean star had two different parts in ITV soap before drug dealer role

Coronation Street is set to welcome back a familiar face this week.

Fans will remember dodgy drug dealer Dean Turnbull (Anthony Crank) has caused havoc for Abi Webster (Sally Carman) in the past and he also terrorised Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney) as she struggled with drug addiction.

He will return to Weatherfield in upcoming scenes and calls at the garage and tells Abi that he’s hit a bad patch and needs her help but she sends him packing.

Some may recognise Anthony as this marks his fourth appearance on the cobbles. He has previously played Dean twice and two other roles. In 2011, he appeared as a police officer in scenes related to Jim McDonald’s armed robbery and later attended the scene of a burglary at Janice Battersby’s house.

However, Coronation Street isn’t the only soap Anthony has graced. He has also starred in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks twice, once in 2010 and again in 2023. Initially, he played Steve, a television producer visiting the village, and over a decade later, he portrayed Kenneth, an investor for a local youth club who shared a kiss with John Paul McQueen.

Anthony’s acting credits also include Shameless, where he appeared twice between 2009 and 2012, playing characters Phil and Bill. In 2015, he featured in BBC’s The Syndicate, and in 2010, he made an appearance in Accused.

During his latest stint in the cobbles, he finds himself in hot water with Abi as she falls victim to a sick deepfake adult site as racy videos get leaked online. In the office Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) opens an email and is horrified by its contents. He tells Abi he has some shocking news.
