Corrie fans fume over ‘ruined’ schedule as the ITV show airs heartbreaking scenes

Coronation Street viewers have been left feeling rather perplexed as the popular drama moved to a new slot as heartbreaking Paul Foreman scenes aired.

The ITV programme which usually airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm for an hour took a different approach as it took place on Tuesday (January 23) at 9pm. With many unaware that Corrie had moved to make way for the FA Cup match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City on Friday, viewers headed to social media to complain.

Taking to X formerly known as Twitter, one fan fumed: “The fact it’s nearly midnight and I’m sitting down to watch #Corrie… so evil.” Another said: “Why is #Corrie on at 9pm, ruining my viewing schedule tonight…”

A third asked: “Why on earth is #corrie on so late?” While a fourth added: “Past my bedtime Better be worth it. But doubt it.”

Coronation Street experienced a schedule change

As fans settled into the jam-packed episode, many were left devastated. During the show, Bernie decided to take her children Paul and Gemma on a caravan trip.

But the trio ended up in turmoil when their tired-looking motorhome got stuck in the mud and couldn’t move. With no signals on their phone, Gemma, Paul and Bernie were out of luck.

However, unexpectedly during the night, Paul received a call from his husband Billy who was worried he was going to commit suicide. Overhearing Billy screaming on the other end of the phone call, Bernie and Gemma were left gutted. As the heartwrenching scenes aired, fans shared their thoughts on Paul’s choice.

Seeing his mother and sister’s utter disbelief, Paul, who is suffering from motor neurone disease, explained that he would want to have more control over his death. Heading over to X, one fan expressed: “It’s Paul’s decision if he wants to die or not. He should be allowed to have the choice to end his own life no matter how wrong it is or whatever his family thinks.”

Another penned: “Paul does have a right to choose when to die. He’s the one who’s suffering but it must be so hard for the family.”

Meanwhile, another fan shared their thoughts when Bernie came to an understanding. The viewer wrote: “Bernie is right – it’s Paul’s decision at the end of the day.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV1 and ITVX
