EastEnders Sharon’s return ‘sealed’ after months away – and fans don’t have to wait long

EastEnders fans are certain Sharon Watts will be rocking back up to Walford soon.

The soap icon, played by Letitia Dean, has been a regular in the square for decades – making her debut back in 1985. Since then, Sharon has been involved in several dramatic storylines.

However, she hasn’t been seen on the soap since January, when she fled the square with son Albie. Her shock exit came amid the huge Christmas storyline that saw her fiancé Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) get murdered.

Fans of the BBC soap finally saw the Christmas victim revealed on Christmas Day to be Keanu after months of speculation and waiting. He ended up getting stabbed by Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) after he attempted to strangle Sharon.

Earlier on in the day, and on their wedding day, Sharon found out Keanu had a role to play in their son Albie’s kidnapping. She also confessed that he was not Albie’s father, as the tot’s dad is actually Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden).

Even though Keanu was no longer a physical threat, his death wasn’t the end of their torment. The rest of The Six women, Stacey Slater, Suki Panesar, Linda, Sharon, Denise Fox (Diane Parish) and Kathy Beale desperately covered up the grisly scene at the Queen Vic. They then ended up hiding his body at the burnt-out cafe, owned by Kathy.

Shortly after, things took a dramatic turn when Sharon fled Walford with Albie. In an episode from January Sharon was then seen arriving at a tube station with Albie.

Pulling along a suitcase, she told her son they were heading off to the airport. Stacey was later shocked to find out from Zack that Sharon had gone away to Australia for a while to visit her friend Michelle.

Sharon left to go Australia

Since then, fans have been longing for Sharon to make a return. Especially as it’s all been kicking off in Walford with The Six following their murder cover-up.

Now, fans online have have shared their theories on Sharon’s return – with some claiming she could be returning in a matter of months. Over on Reddit, one dedicated fan looked up visa laws for Australia in a bid to suss out when she could come back.

“I just looked up visa information for Australia. I realise EE has always played pretty fast and loose with visa rules but in theory she shouldn’t be allowed there for more than a year. And you can actually apply when you are in Australia so it’s not like she would have had to hang around for it to get processed,” the viewer mused.

The same fan then noted how her return could coincide with her half-brother Zac’s girlfriend Whitney Dean exiting the soap in a few months. They wrote: “I think she’ll be back sooner rather than later though.

“There’s just too much for her to be involved with. The six storyline really needs her as she’s the one connected to Keanu. Phil and Albie. When Whitney leaves, if Zac is still there then the fact that Sharon and Martin aren’t there leaves him pretty isolated.”

Over on an online forum, a second fan said: “Sharon’s family are away at this time to. Martin’s break plus Zack is tied up with Whitney. She’ll be back on screen late March. Then we’ll have more curveballs which will take us up to Feb 2025.”
