Emotions were running at an all-time high during the latest episode of Emmerdale as Heath Hope was laid to rest and his killer was unveiled.
The funeral took place on Tuesday night’s episodes (January 18) as the residents of the Yorkshire Dales as well as Heath’s dad Bob and sister Cathy, paid their respects. The teen passed away in a tragic car accident in the village on New Year’s Day, leaving his family in turmoil.
Heath, his sister Cathy and their pal Angelica King were on their way to a party when the fatal crash occurred. Cathy took the car originally and everybody suspected it was her responsible for his death, including her dad Hope.

But Cathy insisted she was innocent and it turns out she was being truthful, because Angel confessed it was her fault. She told Nicola King, who found her standing by Heath’s grave.
As the villagers tried their best to keep their composure during the funeral proceedings, viewers at home were left emotional by the scenes. Heading over to X formerly known as Twitter, fans shared their thoughts.
One viewer wrote: “This is a hard watch tonight.” Another said: “Got me in tears #Emmerdale.”
A third penned: “So emotional but so beautifully done. The music was a lovely touch.”
Another added: “I have never seen a funeral as outstanding as this in soap. I am in awe @emmerdale – well done everyone. Watching this makes you feel there. You feel a part of it. Extremely emotional. That is raw talent with such phenomenal actors.”
While another viewer mentioned that Heath, who is played by actor Sebastian Dowling is a real-life twin to Cathy who is played by Gabrielle Dowling. The fan wrote: “Have to feel for Gabrielle who plays Cathy. Even though it’s not real,it must be more than a little emotional to follow the coffin of your soap sibling who was played by your real-life twin.”

Later on in the programme, after the funeral wrapped up a guilty Angelica had to get something off her chest. Standing above Heath’s casket, Anglica told her mother Nicola that she was responsible for Heath’s death as she was driving the car at the time.
After the bombshell news was revealed, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts. One person penned: “That shut Nicola up. Angelica FINALLY admitting to her Mom it was her driving the car that killed Heath and NOT his Sister, Cathy.
“The guilt was finally too much for her despite letting everyone think it was Cathy. I reckon Nicola will keep quiet.”
