Emmerdale’s Angelica King star shares major update about her return to ITV show

Emmerdale’s Rebecca Bakes spills the beans on Angelica King’s epic return to the ITV drama.

The actress is gearing up to reprise her role as Angelica later this year, as Emmerdale revisits the gut-wrenching Heath Hope death storyline that unfolded at the start of the year.

In a jaw-dropping development earlier in March, Angelica was slapped with an eight-month stint in a Secure Children’s Home after she owned up to her involvement in Heath’s untimely demise.

It emerged that Angelica was actually the one driving during the deadly joyride on New Year’s Eve that resulted in Heath’s death. Initially, she managed to escape suspicion, letting Heath’s twin sister Cathy bear the brunt of the blame.

This heart-rending plot saw Sebastian Dowling exit the series, having played Heath since he was a baby. While chatting with Digital Spy at the Radio Times Soap Awards on Saturday night (July 13), Rebecca dished out some hints about when fans can expect to see Angelica back on their screens.

She disclosed: “It should be at the end of September. So in a few months maybe! I don’t really know because we haven’t started filming anything yet.”

Reflecting on the bombshell New Year’s storyline, Rebecca continued: “Before we even started filming it, we were told that the driver would be me and they kept us updated. It was really exciting because I’d never previously done anything as big.”

Rebecca also confessed she’s been missing her co-star Sebastian since they’ve grown up acting alongside each other from a young age. Recent episodes have hinted at Angelica’s tough time in the Secure Children’s Home, where she first faced bullying but now seems to be causing a stir herself.

In an emotional exchange with his nephew Tom, Jimmy, Angelica’s dad, shared his heartache, admitting she’s “not my little Angel anymore”.

When asked if we might see a shift in Angelica this autumn, Rebecca hinted: “I don’t know, it could go in the direction of her being a rebel or going a bit downhill but I don’t really know yet!”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
