Dave Grohl has had a very colourful love life – and it’s just got even more interesting.
The Foo Fighters rocker left fans shocked this week when he admitted he was a dad again. The only thing was, he’d fathered the child with a woman outside of his marriage.
He released a statement on Instagram which read: “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.

“We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together. Dave.”
But it turns out he’s had plenty of other chaos in his personal life, including a bitter split and marriage regrets.
Jennifer Leigh Youngblood
Dave married photographer in 1994 but they got divorced in 1997. Dave admitted he cheated on her, according to The Guardian, which caused their split.
The publication said the “admitted infidelities” and divorce “caused the departure from the Foo Fighters ranks of Pat Smeal, latterly Nirvana’s auxiliary guitarist and a close friend” of Jennifer.
Dave also spoke of the split. He told Melody Maker: “I was 25, my wife was even younger. We weren’t ready to get married. I miss her a tonne, she’s the funniest goddamn weirdo you ever met in your life. Absolutely adorable. It would have been better had we not got married. But you live and you learn.”
Jennifer Finch
Dave had a relationship with L7 bassist Jennifer Finch in the early nineties. But it appears that their split was not on good terms.
Speaking in the 2016 documentary L7: Pretend We’re Dead, Jennifer was seen in archive footage looking at a magazine and seeing a photo of Dave from when he was in Nirvana.
She is seen saying: “Everywhere I go, everywhere I turn, I see this f***ing face. Frankly, I’m sick of it.”
In 2015, Jennifer told The Big Takeover: “I have my own memories of those times, and those memories are at a point where they are fading. I don’t want someone else’s ingrained into my brain.”
Louise Post
Dave and Veruca Salt singer Louise Post had a brief romance around 1997. They got together after Dave’s divorce from Jennifer Leigh Youngblood.
Louise would go on to record some vocals for the Foo Fighters album The Colour And The Shape.
But things soon fizzled out when Dave turned his attention to Hollywood actress Winona Ryder.
Following the split, Veruca Salt fans became convinced that their song Disconnected was about Dave and how he ended things due to the telling lyrics. They read: “It’s kind of scary when your lover leaves you for a movie star.”
However, Louise assured fans she and Dave had no bad blood. She told The Sydney Morning Herald: “People definitely read things into my songs. It was a private relationship, but it got so much publicity.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen. I’m friends with him now.”
Tina Basich
It’s thought that Dave dated champion snowboarder Tina Basich between 1998 and 1999. Their romance ended around the time Tina broke her leg, which saw her professional career on the rocks for months – and rumours emerged Dave was cheating.
She revealed in her 2003 autobiography Pretty Good For A Girl: “Breakups suck. But rockstar exits are the worst.
“All I got was a five-minute phone call from him, after five weeks of me calling and trying to get ahold of him because I just had to know if these rumours were true.”
She confessed it was such a difficult time that she also struggled reliving it for her memoir. She said: “It was really hard for me. I rewrote my book five times and not until the fifth rewrite did Dave Grohl make the book.”
Jordyn Blum
Dave has been married to his TV producer wife Jordyn Blum since 2003, but has admitted things are sticky now due to his fathering of a love child. He and Jordyn share daughters Violet May, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.
But it appears he might have predicted both the marriage and the downfall of it.
In 1 2005 interview with Q Magazine, Dave said: “I met Jordyn one night in 2001… So I’m just having some drinks and acting like a jackass. And by the end of the night I was pissed and I’m staring at her going, ‘You’re my future ex-wife.’ So she gave me her number: ‘Jordyn, your future ex-wife.’ We saw each other a few times. But I realised that this was the flag, the finish line.”
