GMB’s Kate Garraway forced to apologise after cringe Kim Kardashian blunder

Kate Garraway has been forced to apologise live on-air following a humorous tech blunder on Good Morning Britain.

Kate, 56, returned to our screens once again on Friday (June 7) to present the ITV morning show, alongside guest host Robert Rinder. She flew back to the UK to be back in the studio after she had presented the show on Thursday (June 6) from the beaches of Normandy for D-Day commemorations.

As per usual on the show, Kate and Robert ran through the main stories of the day that had been hitting headlines, before passing the rest of the day’s news to bulletin reader Charlotte Hawkins. However, as she threw the attention back to Robert and Kate – the show’s tech decided not to play ball.

Hawkins, 49, had finished her news bulletin and handed the show back to Rinder and Garraway, who had been joking about reporter Jonathan Swain, who had been giving a report in Edinburgh. However, some technical issues meant that he was left on-screen for much longer than usual as producers scrambled to find the right camera.

Taking the technical mishap in their stride, presenters Rob and Kate were quick to keep viewers in check on what had been happening. The pair then gave a glimpse of what was coming up, including a debate on hiding from children for peace and quiet.

“Go on, admit it – have you ever hidden from your children for a moment of peace and quiet?” Kate asked. “I find actually that my children tend to hide from me, you know?” she added, joking and laughing as she made the admission.

She then said: “Let’s hear what Kim Kardashian had to say about it.” However, when the video was played – it was not a video of the reality legend, but rather a quaint middle-aged woman who was asked the same question Garraway had posed.

In the hilarious moment, the producers had accidentally played the wrong clip, instead playing a video of the public’s thoughts on the video of Kim Kardashian that had meant to be played. After the woman had given her thoughts, a red-faced Kate immediately stepped in to say sorry.

“Well that obviously wasn’t Kim Kardashian,” Kate admitted as co-host Robert could be heard sniggering to himself off-camera. “I apologise, that was reaction to what she had said.”

Garraway then explained that the reality icon admitted that she often “barricades” herself into her bathroom to avoid having to deal with her screaming children. Robert, however, was quick to take a sly dig at the producers slip-up joking: “If that’s Kim Kardashian in about 30 years, who knows!”

Good Morning Britain airs every weekday at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
