Liam Payne reportedly quit rehab after just two days weeks before he died falling from the balcony of his hotel room.
The star is said to have checked into The Priory in July for a 28-day programme but allegedly walked out after only 48 hours.
Reports suggest that Liam’s decision left his close friends and family devastated as he gave up a chance of “overcoming his addictions.”
The singer had previously been open about his struggles and had confided in TV personality Paddy McGuinness about his sobriety. However, despite his desire to get his life back on track, it seems he struggled.
It’s claimed that the Teardrops singer had signed up for the £5,000 a night The Priory in London and had started a detox programme. Sources claimed that Liam rarely left his room and did not attend the classes with others undergoing treatment.
He is believed to have used prescription medication – provided by medical professionals to aid his withdrawal from alcohol and substances. A source told The Sun: “Family and management did everything they could, Liam was loved, adored and incredibly talented,” adding that he “couldn’t beat his demons” despite everyone “rooting for him,” reports the Mirror.
“He confronted his issues head-on, hoping to get back on track,” they added.
The Strip Me Down singer died on Wednesday (October 16) having fallen some 40ft from the third floor of the CasaSur hotel in the Argentinian capital of Buenos Aires.
