Love Island stars’ gross habits – horrid bathroom confessions to hygiene faux pas

Love Island is arguably one of the most glamorous shows on television.

Every year, viewers swoon over the lucky contestants’ gorgeous outfits and lavish lodgings throughout the ITV series. But it’s fair to say it’s a very different story once Islands forget the cameras are rolling.

Over the years, eagle-eyed fans have spotted some contestant’s gross habits including biting toenails, picking noses and a series of vomit-inducing bathroom confessions. On Monday (June 3), the 11th series of the hugely popular dating series launched with a bang.

Viewers watched a bunch of new sexy singletons strutting their stuff into the villa to find their future partner. As the star-studded series gets underway, Daily Star has taken a deep dive inside some of the stars’ grossest habits which have been exposed on the reality show.

Bathroom admission

Last year fans were floored during one particularly gross Unseen Bits episode, in which one Islander gave away a little too much information about their “bad habits”. Detailing some of her gross habits, Claudia Fogarty stunned her housemates when she confessed to weeing in the bath.

During the mortifying chat, Claudia – who is the daughter of motorcycle racer Carl Forgarty – talked about picking her big toenails and using a hair clip to clean under it. She also admitted that when they run out of toilet roll, she will use the cardboard from inside the roll instead.

She revealed: “If there’s no toilet roll – and sometimes if I’ve had a wee, I’ll use the cardboard or sometimes I’ll go for a towel. One time I tried putting cardboard down the toilet and mum was like, ‘Who has blocked it?’”

But it’s fair to say the habit that got viewers feeling grossed out the most was when the Islander admitted to weeing in the bath. She insisted that she only goes to the bathroom just before she hops out of the tub.

Her fellow Islanders were shocked by her revelation, as Olivia Hawkins gasped: “It’s not even like a shower when you get out of it.” To which Claudia then added: “I do it at the end.”

Viewers immediately swarmed to X – formerly known as Twitter – to share their disgust online. One user penned: “Ew not Claudia admitting that she bathes in her urine on TV,” as another agreed: “Claudia that’s actually disgusting.”

A third chimed in with: “What did Claudia just say??” as a fourth asked: “Claudia wees in the bath???!!! No???”

Nail-biting confession

Earlier this year during the All Stars series, fans were gobsmacked when the spotted Mitchel Taylor’s disgusting habit as he sat in the Beach Hut. During an episode of Unseen Bits, the Sheffield local caught up with viewers about his feelings in the diary room.

After sharing his woes, the former gas engineer turned around in his seat and started biting his toenails for the camera. Horrified fans flooded to X to share their revulsion online.

One user fumed: “Why is Mitch eating his toes? That’s barkin,” as another cringed: “Not Mitch biting his toenails.” A third echoed: “Does Mitch remember when he’s biting his nails [throwing up emoji] #loveisland.”

Ultimate accessory

From beds to boyfriends, there’s a lot of swapping that goes down in the Love Island villa. But in 2019, viewers spotted Islanders taking it took far as they stepped out in their glamorous outfits.

Within the first few weeks of the series, viewers spotted many of the girls swapping earrings between them nightly. One enormous pair of popular crucifixes appeared to be a villa favourite amongst the group, with Molly-Mae Hague and Belle Hassan proudly spotted wearing them several nights in a row.

It didn’t take long before viewers flooded to social media to share their disgust at the shared jewellery staple online. One user pointed out: “It’s the way all the girls have recycled those crucifix earrings.” Another agreed: “Am I the only one hating all these over-sized cross earrings?”

A third echoed: “I think when Francesca arrived she must have had a suitcase full of statement earrings in tow, the girls have been decked out in big Christmas baubles the last few days.” A fourth chimed in with: “What’s with the arts and crafts earrings the girls are wearing? Are they possessed by Pat Butcher?”

Kitchen nightmare

Last year, Catherine Agbaje and Elom Ahlijah-Wilson lifted the lid on what it was really like to live in the lavish villa on the show. And it’s fair to say the brunette beauty didn’t hold back with her scathing review as she put her fellow contestants on blast for their gross habits.

When discussing the hardest part about appearing on the show, Catherine immediately called out her fellow housemates lack of cleanliness. Thinking about which room in the Spanish villa was the messiest, she replied: “The kitchen, especially after Casa.

“Imagine 18 living for a whole week or so. The plates, the ants. I remember this one day I got so p***ed off, I just washed my plates and when everyone came I just said, ‘You need to wash your plates’. I was very moody.”

Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled this year to spot any more gross habits on the eight-week long show.

Love Island airs every day on ITV2 or catch up on ITVX
