Love Island’s Molly Marsh admits applying for rival ITV show before entering villa

Love Island star Molly Marsh has admitted she nearly appeared on another ITV show before going into the villa.

Marsh, 21, entered Love Island in the most recent series of the show and had a whirlwind experience during her time on the show. After being dumped from the Island on Day 19, she was brought back one week later as part of the iconic twist that was Casa Amor.

Being brought back by Zachariah Noble, Molly made it all the way to the final, where she finished in fourth place. Since then, Molly has carved a career out of the show and become an influencer thanks to her appearance on the ITV dating show.

But speaking on the Talk Twenties podcast, she recently admitted that she almost did not make it into the show. Instead, she may have appeared in another titan reality show that made its return last year.

Molly admitted that she had submitted an audition tape to Big Brother after it was announced to be coming back to our screens. However, things did not materialise, which allowed Molly to try for Love Island – which did go on to be a success.

“I auditioned for Big Brother before Love Island,” she admitted whilst speaking with host Gaby Mendes. “It all came about in a very weird way.

“I haven’t mentioned it. Big Brother was all I wanted to do, I was like, ‘I wanna go on Big Brother, it’s such a cool show, and love the challenges!’.”

Marsh revealed that she got as far as the first Zoom interview with producers, but failed to impress bosses. She added that she took a relaxed approach to the application progress, but whilst waiting to hear back from Big Brother producers, she decided to try her luck at Love Island in the meantime.

Molly also gave a sneak peek at her audition tape for the show, and let host Gaby in on the secrets of the audition stage. She revealed that producers asked her a series of questions about what her friends thought of, where she fell in her friendship group and who she want to be stuck in a lift with.

However, things would not work out for the aspiring presenter, as she did not make it past the audition stage. Fortunately for her, bosses recognised her beauty and instead cast her on Love Island the same year, where she was one of the first babes to walk into the villa.

Love Island: All Stars airs every Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
