Love Island’s raunchy sex scenes are thought to be a thing of the past after bosses started censoring them off the ITV dating show.
They even cracked down on booze to stop drunken sex sessions in a bid to make the show less tacky. However, it has since been revealed that contestants get down and dirty when the cameras stop rolling.
After leaving the shows, some contestants have left slip that plenty of action takes place but some of it is too much for television.
From waxing each others private parts to making love everywhere in the villa, Daily Star has taken a look at what goes on behind-the-scenes of the raunchy reality show.
Having sex everywhere
Series three contestant Montana Brown previously revealed that personal boundaries between islanders didn’t last very long inside the villa.
Speaking on the Mouthing Off With Olivia Caridi podcast, Montana said: “People are having sex everywhere — genuinely everywhere — all the time. In the day, in the night, upstairs, downstairs. It is hilarious because you know they can’t really put it on camera.
“At the start everyone’s so aware of the fact that you are inches away from the next couple in a bed, but everyone just gets so comfortable.”
Montana, who coupled up with Alex Beattie on the show, previously admitted she regretted having sex while in the villa. She said: “In hindsight, having sex on TV wasn’t the best idea. My advice to the new hopefuls is not to do it. If I could have done it differently, I wouldn’t have had sex.”
Waxing each other
The female contestants have previously turned into DIY beauticians to keep each other hair-free. Love Island beauty Montana said: “We were waxing each other’s vaginas by the third week. I saw everyone’s bum holes, everyone’s vaginas. It was like, ‘Wax time, girls — which one of you wants your vagina waxed first?”
Olivia Attwood, who also featured in series three, has also opened up about the waxing situation. She said: “In our series we did a lot of waxing each of other and nails.”
The Olivia Meets Her Match star also added that the girls were allowed to leave the villa for treatments. “The only time we got something done was the week before finals,” she added to This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield back in 2018.
Sex rules
Before signing up for a “long hot summer”, all Love Island contestants are given a strict briefing on a number of rules. Megan Barton-Hanson, who appeared in the fourth series in 2018, dished the dirt on some sex secrets after her stint on the ITV2 dating show.
“What’s cheeky is if you had sex but denied it to production, they can’t air the footage,” Megan told her Instagram followers. So I would have had an easy life if I pretended that I didn’t, like other girls. But I love sex and it was pretty obvious.”
Former Miss Great Britain Zara Holland was stripped of her title in 2016 after she went on a date with fellow contestant Alex Bowen and had sex with him. The organisation said it was with “deep regret” that she’d been “de-crowned”.
Masturbation ban
Love Island bosses have previously been forced to tell the boys to stop masturbating in the shower. It’s claimed that producers ordered the lads to take themselves to the toilet instead – the only spot in the villa where there are no cameras.
However, series four beauty Elma Pazar has since claimed that all islanders pleasured themselves while in the villa. Elma told The Sun in 2019: “No masturbation? I’m pretty sure they’ve all been ramping them out to be honest.
“I’m not going to lie. They are in there a long time. I’m pretty sure, you can’t have all of the boys not doing it, in one way or another. You couldn’t do that. I couldn’t imagine any boys not doing that. They’ve done it all privately.”
Sexy hot tub plan
The famous Hideaway was graced with a hot tub for the first time in 2019. Bosses have previously revealed they moved the jacuzzi in a bid to heighten the romantic setting.
Producer Richard Cowles told the Mirror at the time: “The hot tub barely got used when it was in the garden and when it was usually four or five people were in there which isn’t very romantic.
“It was never private. As we always seem to get more action in the hideaway because it’s secluded our feeling was that it would be better to move the tub there as we are likely to see romance.”
However, eagle-eyed viewers spotted that the hot tub wasn’t turned on for a small part of the fifth series. While Curtis and Amy were enjoying each other’s company in the water, voiceover Iain Stirling said: “In the hideaway, Amy is turned on, Curtis is turned on, the hot tub is turned off for health and safety reasons.”
Fans will remember that Tommy Fury laid eyes on his now girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague for the first time in the Hideaway hot tub. The boxer got a text to meet a mystery girl in the private room within the first week of the 2019 series and the rest is history.
