Former TOWIE Lucy Mecklenburgh hated saying goodbye to her fiancé Ryan Thomas and their son Roman.
Lucy, 32, was devastated when she had to leave young Roman, 4, as she headed off for work. However, instead of a casual drive, things were made harder for the star as she jetted off to Portugal for a work opportunity.
Leaving her boys at the station as she boarded a train to Essex before flying to the European destination, Lucy was heartbroken at the thought of leaving her family behind. Lucy shared the emotional moment she was waved off by a crying Roman and Ryan on social media.

The Coronation Street star put on a brave face by smiling for his beau as she left. As the train pulled away, Roman sobbed and Lucy penned: “My heart,” followed by a heartbroken emoji and a crying emoji.
Explaining her plans, Lucy said: “I’m going to Essex, then Portugal – I hate being away from the kids.” However, despite the tears that were flowing at the train station, Mecklenburgh was able to perk up and enjoy herself at the airport, where she exclaimed: “Flying without kids is heaven!”
Lucy was jetting off to the southern Portuguese city of Faro, which offers connections to the Algarve and its many towns including Albufeira and Portimão and is a seasonal summer getaway for thousands of Brits. She was getting to the city in order to meet some pals for a wellness and fitness getaway in the sun.
However, this is not the first holiday the family have had together this year, after the clan whisked themselves off to Dubai for some quality time together. The vacation came after Thomas’ win on ITV dancing competition Dancing on Ice, which he won with professional partner Amani Fancy.
It seemed that fiancée Lucy was more than happy to have Ryan come back home after his time on the ice rink. He beamed to the Mirror close to the final back in March: “I never thought I’d hear the day she’s looking forward to hearing me come home! She said the house is tidy!”
The actor, who played Jason Grimshaw on the Manchester-based soap admitted that being away from his family was “really tough”, adding that he was only seeing his children “once a week, if that”. However, once the show was over, the family jetted off to the desert oasis to stay in the luxurious Rixos The Palm Hotel, setting the couple back £1,000 a night.
Both Ryan and Lucy first met back in 2017, when they both appeared on Channel 4 hit show Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls. After things went from strength to strength and their relationship blossomed, Ryan popped the question following two years of love and bliss.
Whilst the pair have not officially tied the knot yet, they have found other ways to prove their commitment to each other. The couple welcomed their young ones Roman and Lilah, 1, in 2020 and 2022 respectively.
