Madonna’s son David Banda says he’s been “scavenging for food” after moving out of the star’s home.
The 18-year-old musician – who is dating model Maria Atuesta, 21 – is living a humble life in an apartment in The Bronx, New York. But things haven’t been going quite so smoothly for the teenager, after he admitted “not having enough money” to make ends meet.
Speaking to The Sun, he opened up about the pros and cons to moving out. He told the publication: “I love it. I’m not on my own, I’ve got my girlfriend. But I love it.”

He added: “It’s lovely to experience it being nine o’clock at night, me being hungry and realising that I don’t have enough money to get food and scavenging. It’s fun to be young.”
To bring in extra funds, the star has been giving guitar lessons online. Prospective students are able to book lessons with the star on his main Instagram page which currently boasts nearly 52,000 followers.
The guitarist joined the Material Girl hitmaker – who recently split from her toyboy beau – on her Celebration Tour. Her international tour came to an end back in May, wrapping up the night with a free gig in Rio de Janeiro.
He notably joined his mother on stage as he played guitar on stage while the hitmaker – who is being sued by a fan for ‘simulating sex acts’ on tour – belted out lyrics to her beloved songs.
Back in 2022, the songstress previously gushed about her son during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. She told the host: “You know he makes music now, too. He’s going to end up being one of your guests [one day].”
After listing off his impressive talents, which includes humour and athleticism, Madonna talked about her son’s keen eye for fashion. He gushed: “He’ll put any outfit on and look swag as you know.
“What’s really irritating is he wears my clothes and looks better in them.” While speaking to British Vogue in 2019, the singer added: “[He’s] the one I have the most in common with.
“I feel like he gets me; he has more of my DNA than any of my children so far.” It comes after the Vogue singer faced a “near-death” health scared caused by a bacterial infection.
In April, the blonde bombshell reflected on how David and her other five kids “saved” her during her health battle. She wrote: “On the day before our 80th show of the Celebration Tour I need to acknowledge my incredibly talented children who carried me through this journey each of them bringing their own unique talent to the stage.
“Rehearsals began over a year ago with almost a 2 month break waiting for me recover from a near death experience. They never stopped practicing… they never stopped cheering me on and supporting me.”
She added: “There enthusiasm kept me Going!!! They were also going to school and rehearsing every night!! Am so very proud of all of them. I think what my children learned the most this year of rehearsing and performing is that if you who to follow your dreams, you have to work hard for them.”
Madonna – who claims she “spoke with God” as she fought for her life in an induced coma – concluded: “And if all of them choose something different later in life, they will never forget this year of blood, sweat and tears. Nor will I. It’s a CELEBRATION!”
